February 25th 2009

February 25th is the date that we will leave Lancaster, PA and finally make our way to South Africa. We will arrive at Refilwe on Friday the 27th of Feb and start the process of settling in and getting to know the community there. The photo to the left is a picture taken at the Daycare Centre there at Refilwe. We're looking forward to getting to know the staff, as well as the community members who frequent Refilwe's programs.

We will join our friend Amanda Martin, who we met many years ago while working at Black Rock Summer Camp. Amanda is a nurse and will be working as part of Refilwe's health care team during her stay at Refilwe. Originally we all intended to arrive at Refilwe together, however after some recent events took place with Cliff's family, we had to change our plans and Amanda went ahead without us. We have spoken with her regularly since she left and our excitement has continued to grow as we hear her first impressions of our home for the coming year.

As many of you are aware, we recently saw the passing of Cliff's dad, Naaman Eberly. While it was a sad and difficult time for us, we have felt incredibly blessed to have been able to spend the better part of the year with Cliff's family. We are so thankful that we were able to be here during the difficulty of Naaman's heart attack and the following weeks before his passing away. We felt and appreciated the love and prayers sent our way over that time. Right now we are staying with Ann, Cliff's mum, helping out around the house and with various other matters that need to be taken care of. We are enjoying our time spent with her and are not looking forward to saying goodbye!

Hopefully we will now get into a better routine with blogging and letting you know what is going on with us as we begin this next part of our adventure. Thanks for stopping by!
